about
I composed this Contemporary Jazz puppy in 2013
I actually like the lyrics I wrote for this song. It shows the angst that some youth go thru needing to take action in the digital age.
I have it all boarded out so in the near future I will release a music video of this song.
lyrics
Standing in the Line with You
Key: Dm
Intro (Larry & Beat Buddy Drum Only)
Verse 1
Had to work late / last/ Friday night
Now the girl in my dreams_seemed/ out of my sight
Went downstairs / to grab/ a bite to eat
How would I know, How would I know/ that she’d be there next to me
Chorus [Start Bass, Rhodes, & Drums]
Ah, standing in the line with you,
Verse 2
Walked up/ she's there/ in front of me
Pretty little thing I've ever seen but her smile was the key
In a tight skirt/ hair/ thick as cream
How would I know, How would I know/ was I living in a dream?
Chorus
Verse 3
Don't know what/ I should say
So used to texting and/ staying away
Grabbed my courage and asked/ one simple thing
How would I know, How would I know/ that she would make me sing
Chorus
Verse 4
So I took a chance/ asked/ “You wanta see a show?”
"Sure, we can meet after 10/ I'll be/ ready to go."
I looked at my feet/ they/ wanted to dance
How would I know, How would I know/ that she would give me a chance
Chorus
Ah, standing in the line with you,
Verse /Chorus Progression: Instrumental (Electric Guitar then Rhodes)
Verse 5
Drove to a theater/ popped a_mint in my mouth
There she was waiting in line/ on the north side of south
I walked next to her/ had to/ jump up and down
How would I know, How would I know/ I'd be the luckiest man around
Chorus
Ah, standing in the line with you, [Four part harmony]
Ah, standing in the line with you, [Four part harmony]
Vamp out with Rhodes
With you.............With you-hoo-ooh-hoo-ooh
With YOU!
